May 9 – 15, 2021 is Food Allergy Awareness Week. Food Allergy & Anaphylaxis Connection Team (FAACT) is promoting this week. Food Allergy Research & Education (FARE) is also promoting this important week. We are proud to share our #TealLoveShinesBright Food Allergy Awareness Month campaign again for 2021!

FAACT is hoping we can all learn and share the news about food allergies. This is a great week to share about anaphylaxis, too. Awareness of food allergies is very important, because you never know when a food allergy could start. Food allergies started with me in my twenties and progressed over the years. As my allergies and anaphylaxis has gotten worse, I’ve been diagnosed with a Mast Cell Disorder.

School Facts for Awareness

FAACT has developed a curricula program for schools. As many children are coming to school with food allergies, such as peanut allergies, schools must educate their teachers and staff on prevention and emergency protocols.

If you want to help spread awareness, there are many things that you can do. Social media is an easy way for us to share posts and information that will spread the news. A press release can be sent to the local paper or a document to the governor of your state. Flyers can be distributed or a support group could be started in person or online.

A fundraiser, like a bake sale, can help raise funds for the organization and also to spread brochures or information.

FAACT has offered a way to share tweets and FB posts to spread awareness. Here are the first three days of social media posts that can be shared:

A #FoodAllergy is NOT the same as a food intolerance. #FoodAllergies involve immune system (IgE) & can be life-threatening.


Eight foods account for 90% of all #FoodAllergy reactions: Peanut, Tree Nut, Egg, Soy, Dairy, Wheat, Fish and Shellfish. However, almost any food can cause a reaction.

Read #labels each and every time before eating any food product! #Ingredients and/or #manufacturing can change over times, or may vary depending upon the size of the product (e.g. jumbo vs snack size).
