I have an itinerary! Almost two years after seeing my oldest son and his family, it looks like we’ll be able to go and visit him. My newest grandchild will be two+ months old when we arrive, and I can’t wait to get my hands on him. So many missed cuddles……
We have hotel reservations for the trip. The only thing that may stop us is if my husband’s cancer appointment reveals anything bad. His oncologist will check him and do PSA tests or hormonal tests to see if the treatment is having any effect. If he is getting worse numbers, then everything will be up-in-the-air. I don’t want to think about it, but the possibility is out there that the hormonal therapy might not be helping.

If he would need to start a different treatment, the travel plans would need to change. I feel very stressed about traveling, his illness, and my poor health. I also have a problem with my driver’s license. I waited until after my vaccination to get a new license. I need to replace my Virginia license with my new Kansas license. When I went to apply, I was missing a document. There is a new law that you must have your wedding certificate from the state where you’re married to prove that your social security card is really yours. It’s really maddening! I don’t have an official copy of that, so I’ve had to order one for $189. I paid for overnight shipping, but that was four days ago and it hasn’t arrived.
It should get here before I leave, but I can’t go without it. I won’t be able to drive once I get to my destination and my son doesn’t drive. Ugh! It’s hard to be calm and to de-stress when you have DMV issues.

My pain is very bad this week and my neck is creating lots of headaches. The increased Gabapentin and Tylenol isn’t doing what the doctor thought it would. Because of our travel plans, I’ve had to reschedule five doctor’s appointments. One of those is with the highly-recommended pain doctor, who researches pain remedies for fibromyalgia. Everyone says that she’s fabulous and has access to experimental therapies. Well, changing my appointment means that now I can’t see her until the end of January, 2022.
Going to see my son and daughter, their husbands and the grandbabies is my top priority! I haven’t seen my other grandson in six months and I can hardly stand it. So many of us have stayed away from people, crowds, and traveling during the pandemic. Of course, we tend to isolate anyway. I hope that you are able to see the ones you love and enjoy the hugs. We need a lot more love in this world.
