Spread the love

Corny title, right?

Today I’m swaying along on the train as my son and I head south to visit our family there. We left our old hometown in Virginia last night in a sleeper-car and tried to get a little shut-eye. I love the sway of the train, but during the night it was jerking often. That woke me up over and over.

We spent a week and a half with my oldest, his wife, and baby and had a marvelous time. It was hard to leave the little cutie, with all his smiles and coos. A three-month old baby is so precious and easy going. Since he was having a growth-spurt, his grandfather and I were able to feed him many bottles.

I’m living on high doses of Advil, in order to knock the edge off my back pain. I also have a UTI and am taking an over-the-counter drug for that. When we arrive in our next city, I need to find a compounding pharmacy so that I can refill my empty bottle of LDN. I think not having those pills for a few days has made my pain worse, too.

Riding on the train is very cool. I love how the train station manager told us that this line has run the same route on the same tracks for over 100 years. It’s fun to imagine people riding past these same locations over time. I love looking out the window and seeing all the cities and small towns that we pass through.

With my next adventure starting tonight, I’m praying for physical and mental strength to deal with whatever I will face with my mother. I pray that I can be a blessing to my parents at this stage in their lives, especially with my mom’s dementia. I don’t have the physical ability to handle my new responsibilities and certainly need God’s help to do this.

Psalm 33:20-22 Our soul waiteth for the Lord: he is our help and our shield. For our heart shall rejoice in him, because we have trusted in his holy name. Let thy mercy, O Lord, be upon us, according as we hope in thee.

  1. Best of luck with everything with your parents. I have never traveled by train (other than short 1 hour excursions; that I did think were fun). I’m not sure I could sleep on a train though.

    1. Thank you. The train was nice, and I had a little trouble sleeping. This ride was more jerky than other times, but it was an adventure 🙂 Hope you’re having a nice weekend.
