After talking to the dermatologist about my biopsy, I was not feeling too good. Hearing that cancer is in the future certainly puts a cloud over things. But, today I feel more at peace after praying a lot. Then, my LD blood test came back.

I know that with cancer the doctors were worrying about high levels of LDH. High LD numbers can show cell damage. They also might be wanting to have a base number to watch in the future. They haven’t talked to me about it yet.

My numbers were very low; much lower than the normal range. I was surprised, because I don’t think that I’ve ever had my LDH tested. I looked up my old test results and couldn’t find that it has ever been tested.

I probably am not understanding what I’m reading (or at least hope not). What I’ve read is that low LD is rare. Some websites said that low test result numbers could be caused by an excess of Vitamin C consumption, but I haven’t taken any. Here is the definition of Lactate Dehydrogenase:

Lactate dehydrogenase (LD or LDH) is an enzyme involved in energy production that is found in almost all of the body’s cells, with the highest levels found in the cells of the heart, liver, muscles, kidneys, lungs, and in blood cells; bacteria also produce LD.

Low LD or Lactate Dehydrogenase Deficiency is not a good thing. It is a rare disorder. It can result in exercise intolerance and fatigue because the body doesn’t break down sugar for the cells to use as energy properly. If I really have this, it would explain a lot. I started having exercise intolerance in 2011 and have had zero energy ever since. The only improvement I’ve had is after beginning Low-Dose Naltrexone a few months ago.

Well, I’ll certainly be eager to discuss this with the doctors soon. I don’t want to find out that I have another rare genetic disorder, but I guess I wouldn’t be surprised.

Hopefully, I’m wrong and just worrying too much. I hope to know more soon, but I know the additional blood tests that the doctor wants done will have to wait a few weeks. For now, I will read as much as I can find and try to relax and depend on God.
