Recovery: Week 1

Writer: Lisa EhrmanLisa Ehrman

A week has passed and it hasn't flown by. I've been getting a little better with the transferring. Sliding from one chair to the wheelchair has become a little easier, but it still exhausted me.

I only get up to go to the bathroom, and when I get back to the sofa I'm out of breath and glad to put my foot up again. The PT was here yesterday and hubby and I had questions for him.

He gave me a few exercises to try. These were very small movements that were terribly difficult. I had just had surgery a week ago and hadn't done any exercise for over 10 years.

When he left my good ankle started swelling. I was hoping that it was improving, so that I wouldn't be worried about having Avascular Necrosis on another ankle. This is so awful! I don't like being a patient who needs full-time care.

No one could be better than Hubby, because he is truly caring. I pray all through the day that I will heal and that this surgery will be the last one I need on that foot.

It's hard to be off my feet. I keep wanting to just get up and go into another room or pick up something off the floor. The simple things become even more precious when you lose them.

I've written some other posts about being. thankful. I accept what is happening and am grateful for a God who loves me and for my children who support me and check on me.

I will continue my journey into being content right where I am in life. The more I practice gratefulness, the easier it is. In the hard times, I choose thankfulness. I may have a pity party sometimes, but then I tell God how thankful I am for the little things.
